Michigan State Showdown; Evan King to Michigan

It's a travel day for us--to the ITA Indoor in Charlottesville, Virginia, but I wanted to post a link to my stories today for the Tennis Recruiting Network. In the morning, read about the One-Day Showdown at Michigan State; this afternoon, check back to hear Evan King on his decision to commit to the Michigan Wolverines.

I liked your story but I was also really curios about the Roland Thornqvist one. He was kind of open about the problems players have in their freshman or sophomore years and mentioned some reasons why players transfer out of his program but Id really like some more detail on what those issues were. Is it that he trains them too hard or is he really tough to deal with as a coach or don't player like being at Florida? Also, why do so many of them seem to end up at Miami?

Those were nice articles written in tennisrecruiting.net about Evan King and Chris Cha who have both committed to Michigan.

However, I definitely disagree with the characterization that Chris Cha plays like Tsonga with a combination of power and touch. He has the touch and variety but I've never seen much power. It is more accurate to say that Cha plays a cerebral finesse game filled with a great variety of shots such as slices and an all court game where he varies the pace, uses a lot of slice and sneaks in to net. I've never seen him play with big powerful shots and if he does use such shots it is once in a while to surprise his opponents and add to the variety.

There is no question that Cha is a very talented and excellent player who is a nightmare to beat when he's playing at the top of his game. He is also very well behaved on the court.

Colette- great article on King . Not only he's a great tennis player, he's got the smarts too . He's got a great future ahead of him both tennis and academics .
Good job Bruce and Sean !

If King were really smart he would have gone to Illinois. ;)

Oh well, it's tough to win a recruiting battle against the kid's whole family.
